DERBY.

Dear Robotham,

Very many thanks for yours of the 23rd August and I note that you have had some trouble with the 14 mm. plugs when running on Ethyl petrol.

We had similar troubles with the Napier/Halford unit in the early stages of running on "leaded" fuels and the K.L.G. Co. made up rather a "fancy" plug for Napiers, which overcame the difficulties.

Briefly, I think the main cause of the trouble is due to the difference in shape and volume of the inside of the plug body when compared with the normal 18 mm. plug.

I hope to come up to Derby shortly and I would like to have a look at the plugs you have on hand.

In the meantime, I enclose a sketch of some plug designs which could be tried and which I am sure K.L.G.'s (if they are the suppliers) would be pleased to make for you.

If this matter is very urgent, would it be possible for you to come to London and go and see the K.L.G. people with me or for myself and the K.L.G. representative to come up and see you.

This is rather a scrappy letter, but there are many points to consider and I prefer to make use of the enclosed sketches and if possible come and have a talk with you later on the whole subject.

Please let me know if you would like me to come up immediately on this matter.

Kindest regards,

Yours sincerely,
F.R.Banks.
