With reference to the complaint raised by us of the demountable flange coming off the straight-sided rims when the tyre is deflated, we should like to point out the following facts. 1. The car which Major Hodges was driving in France on which the demountable flange was lost, was not fitted with Dunlop wheels - it was fitted with Rudge-Whitworth wheels which had been recently supplied to us. These wheels have the same design of demountable rim as the Dunlop. 2. We have had two cases of Dunlop wheels with straight-sided rims, that when the tyre punctured, the demountable flange has come right off and been lost. One case occurred on a 40/50 wheel and the other case was on one of the wheels of a 20 H.P. 3. We have had one case of this occurring with Michelin Budd wheels which were supplied to us from U.S.A. and which have the same design of straight-sided rim as on the Dunlop. 4. We have taken one of the very latest wheels which you supplied to us last week, and find that if we revolve the wheel minus the tyre at a car speed equal contd:- | ||
