1020a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 16th September, 1938. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Howlett, Esq., Wellworthy Piston Rings Ltd., LYMINGTON. Hants. Dear Mr. Howlett, I was very glad to get your letter of the 15th September which completely clears the air. As you have possibly gathered my one anxiety is to hand the whole of the bearing job over to you. We shall, of course, always be ready to give you our opinion in exceptional cases. Personally, I am quite satisfied with the way you are tackling the job. It is significant that the people who really matter, such as Leyland and A.E.C., have had practically no trouble with the bearings. Obviously, as long as we are only brought in in exceptional cases, the question as to whether people are worth catering for or not will be entirely a matter for Wellworthy's to decide as it should be. I shall hope to continue to interest any Company with which I come in contact whose business I think might be worth while, and having done so shall refer them to you. I suggest that we hand over the bearing rig to Wellworthy's, as, obviously, the customers troubles should dictate what work is done on it. None of us has time for Conferences if they can be avoided, and I am very glad to hear that you do not think the one asked for by High Duty Alloys is necessary. Yours sincerely, | ||
