With reference to BY9/H15725., and Mr. Sidgreaves letter on the complaint from Patiala of the mud and fine stones getting into the brake covers, Mr. Royce would like to try a very simple form of cover similar to that which we used on the front brakes.

We send herewith N. scheme 2038. shewing how it might be carried out for experimental purposes.

The pressed steel drum presents a difficulty as there is no sharp edge inside with which the cover could make a fairly close diametral fit. If this proves to be a necessity in this sort of cover, we can for experimental purposes fasten a plate on to the rim of the brake drum and make the cover revolve inside this, subsequently effecting a design alteration to the brake drums to remove the necessity of this ring.
