USA 3 81109 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} S/KW. 21st April, 1934. F.C. Thomas, Esq., The Morse Chain Co., Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Dear Mr. Thomas, I observe in a recent number of "Automotive Industries" in which statistics were given, that it is computed that the gear drive has increased in popularity at the expense of the chain during the past two years. I know that these statistics can be most misleading, and the figures are given as the number of models fitted with chain as against the number of models fitted with gears, but I should like to have your view of the conclusions which they draw, because I understood when I was in America that nobody of any consequence had reverted to the gear drive during the past 5 years. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
