STEERING CAMS.
As a result of my letter BY.1/G.12.12.36. to the Adamant Co. they have gone further into the question of the inaccuracies which we demonstrated were present in the cams, and they now agree that as a result of further investigation they have found certain faults in their method of production which they are proposing to modify. They will then mark cams produced by their later method by letter X.
I attach copy of the Adamants Letter of the 14th inst., from which Mr. Goodall will appreciate the necessity for carefully checking up the cams marked with the letter 'X', in order to ascertain whether there is any improvement or not.
Personally, I think the only solution is to follow up the arrangement which RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} is working upon, by which we take the cam in an early stage of its production and finish the job off at our Works.
