Dear Sirs,

STEERING CAMS.
----------------

We are in receipt of your letter of the 12th instant, reference as above, and have carefully read and noted the same.

Since the visit of your Mr. Bailey and Mr. Goodall we have continued to investigate the matter of the Cams further.

We believe that we have arrived at a cause which may possibly account for an inaccuracy in the cam track as cut on the cam generating machines here, this cause being that, due to the limits of the given cam bores off which the tracks are generated, on the extreme ends of the limits a very small movement of the cam is obtainable.

The thrust from the cutter varies in direction as the cam proceeds from lock to lock as no doubt you will readily agree, this thrust tending to push the cam over which would introduce an error.

We have made a temporary provision against this with good results and we hope shortly to send you some cams so cut for testing out in your box and on the road. These Cams will be marked with 'X' so that you may be able to recognise them.

If they are found satisfactory we propose to mount the Cams for cutting between the end races as well as on the bore which should effect a permanent cure for this. The races will then take the place of the spigot mentioned by you.

May we ask you kindly to co-operate with us in this experiment which we look upon hopefully.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

We are, Yours faithfully,
for ADAMANT ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED.
