RE. DUNLOP WIRE WHEELS WITH GOODYEAR RIMS WITH REMOVABLE FLANGE FOR STRAIGHT SIDED TYRES.

With reference to your Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}7/NJ6.1.21, we quite appreciate that the question of using these rims as at present made is of paramount importance, and agree that the point should be discussed at the Committee meeting.

Before doing so, however, we should obtain as quickly as possible from the Experimental Dept. a report on their experience with these rims, having regard to the fact that they have recommended and passed these rims for standardisation, also the fact that these rims are being used extensively on American cars, also that they are being run on the Experimental Car by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} in America.

We also think that the bumper test which is being undertaken by the Experimental Dept. is very important and we should receive information about this.

We assume that no chassis should be despatched with the above wheel combination, and should be glad if By will instruct accordingly, also that no wheels should be accepted from the makers and taken into stock until our action on this point has been settled.
