To EY. from EFC. c. EY/RD. X7660 EFC1/T16.10.28. X.7660. S.S. DYNAMO. As a result of tests carried out on the first of the S.S. type of machine received from the expl. shop, we find that, with the armatures built to the existing drawing, the angle between the main brushes and neutral commutating points, comes out at about 4º advance. The angle required is about 9º retard, and we obtained it approximately on this particular machine by having the connections to the commutator retarded, i.e. moved round in the opposite direction to rotation, two segments. This made the armature sufficiently right to proceed with the tests. In order to get future armatures right, in addition to retarding the commutator connections two segments, the commutator itself should be retarded 1º. Will EY/RD. kindly note these two modifications and alter the drawing accordingly. EFC. | ||
