Referring to paragraph 4 of the above memo, in regard to the gland spring, the particulars of a spring giving 50% load will be:-

.344 inside diameter.
Free length .77.
23 SWG (.024).
4 working coils - load when compressed to .375 to be 1/2 lb approximately.
