81487. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/AD. December 14th, 1931. The S.U. Company, East Works, Bordesley Green Rd. Adderley Park, Birmingham. For the attention of Mr. Skinner. Dear Mr. Skinner, Thank you for Mr. Harris's letter of the 12th inst. referring to the two 1 3/4 carburettors which we asked you to let us have in the Bentley finish of nickel and black enamel. We asked for these carburettors because we are submitting a car fitted with two S.U. carburettors to Sir Henry Royce for his consideration and we wish/ed{J. L. Edwards} to make them as attractive as possible. As it happens, however, Sir Henry leaves for the Continent at the end of the week and it will therefore not be possible to wait for these carburettors as suggested and we shall have to demonstrate the ones we have available here. We thank you for the trouble you have taken and do not really anticipate that the appearance will have any material bearing on the opinion passed on these carburettors. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
