Mr. Robotham,
Rolls Royce Ltd.,
Derby, England.

Dear Mr. Robotham:

RE PISTON

Replying to your note re weight of Pierce-Arrow piston and con-rod assembly, I do not really see that we are likely to have any opportunity of checking up this information.

I have no doubt personally that the weight given is substantially correct. The saving would be in the Duralumin con-rod, and in the "Bohnalite" steel-strut piston.

These are made very light I know from personal observation.

Would it not be a good idea to send us an experimental order for say 20 sets of Duralumin con-rods for the Phantom (these are forged locally) and a similar number of Bohnalite steel strut pistons, the design of the latter to be left more or less to the recommendations of the Bohn Al. and Brass. Corp. subject to your approval.

Practically the whole American trade is swinging to this combination on this year's cars, following the 3 year lead of Chrysler.

Very truly yours,
Maurice Olley

MO r.{Sir Henry Royce}
