RE. CASTING IN ALUM: X.8000
AND BRONZE+ X.1476


It will be realised that it is of the utmost importance to get the strongest and lightest castings in alum., for crankchambers etc.

I understand that we are persevering to get:-

(1) Hall light alloy (alum-magnesium)or something equal.
(2) Die-castings were where-ever possible.
(3) Use of alum. bronze because it is stronger than other bronzes, and can be die-cast.

I did hear that (3) was not used because it was difficult to machine, but there should be no change from the instructions without permission from the designers and testing engineers, because of the loss of strength.
