Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} X5005 R2/M17.9.28. RE. RUBBER ENGINE MOUNTING ON CAR ENGINES ETC. X.5005 X.5770 The 20 HP. returned to the Works on Friday last @ 10-G-3 - with Hooper fixed roof, 4-seater body, is quite a nice car, and can now be sold, or put to some useful work, being like our std. production. Hoopers have promised to put right their bad painting, which is said to be due to some error in preparing (cleaning) the aluminium after welding, so it should go to them. The driver's window vibrates at one engine speed when half-way down. If we could mount the engine on rubber it would be a good test to find out if it cured such a fault. We are definitely of the opinion that the extra movement of the front of the car noticed on 12-G-4 is due to the rubber engine mounting permitting vertical deflection of the front end of the frame side members. It might be better with 4 engine feet as on EAC.10. In spite of this the car seems very delightful. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
