- 2 - the optimum value for this resistance, which seems rather low, though there was no sparking at the points and in practice there is no burning, probably because the current in this circuit in non-inductive and the voltage does not rise. The small voltage rise at the point of make shewn in voltage curve without the resistance is due to the single contact which must overrun and this is not evident when two contacts are used.
