SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE 21st February 1939. W.A. Robotham Esq., Rolls-Royce Limited. DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, Further to my call the week before last, as promised I have pursued your complaint concerning Petrol Tank Attachment failures on the 'WRAITH', particularly in the light of your own and Mr. Dixon's observations that there was more pronounced gumminess in the vicinity of the carbon bearings, and am assured that, although extensive tests have been carried out with various grades of petrol, the bearings have proved entirely satisfactory. As you are aware, we have always had a certain amount of trouble with geared designs of Petrol Tank Attachments due to the fact that their immersion in petrol results in gumminess, which is so severe with some spirits that we have known these parts to become absolutely solid. It is for this reason that I have been, and am, loath to recommend their use - I hope you will not mind, in the circumstances, if I stress the necessity for a change in design. Heater: Further to our conversation, will you very kindly suggest an appointment when it will be convenient for Cont'd.... | ||
