TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M2.7.25. 40/50. - 'V' SERIES - STEERING. X8430 Herewith we send N. scheme 2024., shewing modifications to the steering gear box to increase the irreversibility. A new box casting is called for. We have tried to avoid this, but it has not been found possible, and we hope there will be no great delay in consequence. We have shewn the swivelling nut, though it is not strictly speaking part of the experiment, because we wish to avoid the possibility of any cross winding prejudicing the first results. We are aware that the increased irreversibility may bring up wobbles, and we are counting on the damped pendulum lever being available for fitting if found desirable. The degree of irreversibility is slightly greater than that of the Hispano. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} RECEIVED 8 JUL 1932 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
