For the attention of S.H.Grylls, Esq.

10th January, 1939.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to Mr. Sharp's and the writer's visit on the 7th, we are sending you a confirmatory drawing indicating the modification which we proposed to the nose of the 72.V. shell so that adequate clearance is allowed for spoke heads when the new 30º cone angle is embodied.

This drawing will also show the relative position of the nut on the Wraith and Bentley chassis when the modified shells are employed.

We are endeavouring to incorporate this modification at the earliest moment, but, as explained, we have a considerable number of shells processed pending your confirmatory order for 300 sets of Wraith equipment, and we have asked our Works to let us know how many wheels it will be necessary to build of the present type and the delay which would ensue in the necessary tooling modifications. We will give you a report on the position relative to the order in question as soon as possible.

We are also arranging to bring in a modification to the limits allowable on the track line and shall work to a plus or minus limit of 16 thou.

We would, of course, confirm that on all wheels with the present shell arrangement we are paying particular attention to inspection relative to spoke clearance in the nose.

Yours faithfully,
For DUNLOP RUBBER CO., LTD.
