Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Attention of Mr. Robotham. Dear Sirs, With regard to your favour of the 5th inst. (reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/LG) on the subject of tyres for your 40/50 h.p. car - your requirements for test purposes are clearly understood. The position with regard to the possibility of supplying is that, as you are already aware, standard Silent tyres in 33x6.75 are available now. Super tyres are not yet in production, but we think that if all goes well, we may be able to provide your test requirements early in November. As far as the 'Fort' Silent is concerned, the earliest date we can foresee is the end of November or quite early in December. We do not know when your tests are about to start, but we hope the above will not involve you in any difficulties with your programme. On the subject of the possibility of procuring these tyres in France, Silent tyres have not yet been made by Dunlop France, but they are making arrangements to provide a mould for the standard Silent tyres in size 33x6.75 to enable the tyres to be manufactured there. Pending this, if Dunlop France should require in the ordinary way any Silent tyres, they would draw their requirements from us, and by arrangement with the Rolls-Royce Company in France, would probably carry two or three sets of tyres in stock. As soon as we have completed the designs and processes for the 'Fort' Silent and the Super tyre, they would be communicated | ||
