This consists of making the sump with a settling chamber around the strainer and in such a form that it will not affect the ground clearance. This strainer has a double gauze, the inner one being 20 mesh and the outer one, which is a greater area, is 36 mesh. To cool the oil the floor at the front has been made corrugated to increase the surface inside and out. No useful purpose is served by continuing this treatment at the rear of the sump as it is known from our Peregrine and J.III experience that it would become mud caked. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} LeC.5345 herewith. | ||
