Hardy Esq. Dear Sirs, We would acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 6th instant sent for the attention of Commander Matravers, who we regret to say is away from the office due to illness. CAMS OUR PART NO. M.22517. 4 off with bores to present practice. 2 off with bores to latest American practice. At the time of writing, we are unable to give a promise for the former, in view of the fact that the machines are working on your standard production. We have arranged for big batches of both 25/30 H.P. and Phantom lll Cams to be cut, and as far as we can see at the moment the machines will not be free to cut the experimental Cams for at least the next three weeks. We think you will agree that we must concentrate on the production requirements at present, in view of the position at your Works as given to us by your people. With regard to the latter. We have not yet completed certain experiments that we are trying out here, the results of which we desire to know before machining bores of Cams on the American principle.
