two types so that on the whole it was felt that the 9 plate battery was the more suitable one for the Bentley.

Summarizing the above, the following give the reasons for deciding on the 9 plate battery:

(a) The high rate discharge is only slightly less, which we think will not matter as we have a lower starter gear ratio, an improved starter motor, and plenty of richness control on the S.U. carburetters.

(b) A saving of 6 lbs in weight.

(c) No difference in price.

(d) Longer life due to the use of the thicker plates. The ampere hour capacity is less than the 11, but is still greater than we are using on the 20/25 battery.

(e) A point which was not mentioned before is the question of servicing, in which the 9 plate will not suffer as it complies with World standards in respect to all externals, and we are informed that the 9 plate can be as readily serviced as the 11 if necessary to repair a cell or in respect to any other features.
