Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}/ES.6.3.41. FUTURE COACHWORK. Notes on Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG1/RH{R. Hollingworth}14.2.41, being a Report on Quantity Produced coachwork discussed at W. on Tuesday, 4th March, 1941, at Meeting of: Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Mr. Ward. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} EAG. Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} BENTLEY-V STANDARD SALOONS. (1) P.W. are to make a new full size drawing of the Standard body and check it with the existing wood model. They are also to check up that there exists a full set of detail drawings. Any detail drawings not yet made are to be put in hand at the first opportunity. P.W. are to repair the wood model as necessary. P.W. are to complete the checking jigs and make a second set so that when production starts, one set may be retained by them and the other set sent to Motor Panels at Coventry for their use. (2) SILVER PHANTOM & CRESTA. P.W. are to make full size drawings and detail drawings to help reduce to the minimum, delay in starting production. They are also to prepare specifications. (3) BENTLEY-V COUPES: P.W. are to re-design the front of the body so as to make a satisfactory job of the re-inforcement found necessary to obtain sufficient stiffness and freedom from front end shake. (4) MYTH. EAG. said the remainder of the drawings would all be in the hands of P.W. in three months' time. Mr. Ward said he would want three months to finish the body after receipt of the balance of the drawings. It was suggested the body should be mounted at W. to avoid submitting the chassis to the risk of air raid damage in London. (5) Mr. Ward explained that the drawing work mentioned in items 1, 2 & 3 above would necessitate the engagement of additional draughtsmen by P.W. and that the expenses would be appreciable. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed that R-R.{Sir Henry Royce} would pay for the drawings and said P.W. should submit invoices bi-annually. | ||
