EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT.

Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.12/JH.

14th June, 1938.

Messrs. John Marstons Ltd.,
WOLVERHAMPTON.

For the attention of Mr. Dunn.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to the discussion between the writer and Mr.Dunn and in particular Mr. Smith when at your Works recently, there were a number of points of which Mr. Smith took notes and promised to let us have information within a few days. We have not yet heard from you with regard to these matters and would like to do so without delay. Below is a list of the points in question.

(1) When next proof set of B.III dummy shutters is to be delivered.

(2) When oil cooler with special method of flux dipping is to be forwarded for test.

(3) Agreement as to charge to be made for reconditioning hand soldered oil coolers.

(4) Agreement as to charges for sample B.II radiator which was submitted by Messrs. Marstons see our letter of April 12th, 1938. ref. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.6/AP.

We have had another 'F' type oil cooler failure under similar conditions to the last one, and are returning the cooler to you for examination . We are very definitely not satisfied with the standard of the solder bond. Our Laboratory and radiator shop foreman have examined it and are of the opinion that a good solder bond was never attained on this cooler.

This in their opinion was due to clearance i.e. bad fit between the tubes and bottom plate and also due to the dipping being carried out with the solder bath at too low a temperature.

Cont'd. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary}
