Swindell} 22/ER 15.2.39. No. 30 Bed. B.80 No2 Unit.- It has been decided to retain this unit for the test bed and not install in chassis, No.1 Unit now being allocated for this purpose. Complete tests of previous programme and continue with following :- (a) Check effect of tappet clearance on idling and what is minimum clearance for good even running at 250 RPM light. Maximum permissible tappet clearance with quiet valve mechanism. (b) Continue with carburation tests. (c) By means of optical indicator, check exhaust valve temperature under following conditions:- 3500 RPM, 3750 RPM and 4000 RPM full throttle. Ethyl fuel under weakest maintained condition. Ignition advance minimum for maximum power. With normal warm clearance of .010 and .020. (d) With test bed exhaust system and Redline fuel, take curve of minimum advance for maximum power, also non-detonating curve throughout, speed range 500 RPM to 4000 RPM. (e) Check time for stopping after switching off at 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 RPM having maintained full power at these speeds for 5 minutes Should be tried with Champion NA{Mr Nadin} 10 sparking plugs, and again with gauranteed cool running plug, such as "827's" Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
