BENTLEY EXHAUST SYSTEMS.

We have received a memo from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} to the effect that the exhaust downtake pipe has broken just above the expansion box, a clean break, not burnt. He also states that the fitters did not fasten the stay from the front expansion box to the crankcase.

As this engine was fitted with the raised mounting the increased engine movement has probably put too great a strain on the downtake pipe due to no location between the expansion box and the crankcase.

Will you therefore please build up and fit to 3.B.1V. for 15,000 miles test another downtake pipe, front expansion box and intermediate pipe made in MILD STEEL and "Aluminized".
