1033. Experimental Department 5th March 1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe}20/AP. Zenith Carburetter Co.Ltd., Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, Middlesex. For the attention of Mr.A.E.Palmer. Dear Sirs, Torsion Spring P.17068. 30.HP.Stromberg DC.42 With reference to the springs Ex.777., we find that these will not overcome all cases of friction and gumming up in service and suggest that you kindly make us 6 stronger springs, as P.17068, but using the next thicker gauge wire. Please adjust the diameter to prevent winding choc-o-bloc and binding on the spindle. Presumably, it was my error, in not warning you of this, when making the EX.777. springs. I would welcome your reasons on why the EEC.42. PhantomIII. choke spring is so much stronger in proportion, than the 30.HP.DC.42, as when compared together they appear so inconsistent. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
