Dear Sirs,

We thank you for the sample bellows which you recently supplied. We are interested in your remarks with regard to greater flexibility when the bellows is compressed. Perhaps you could let us have some figures to show the difference in flexibility between the two ways of using the bellows. With the present design of assembly it is impossible for us to use the bellows in compression, as in the position where there is no pressure inside the bellows, there must be no load on the spring against the bellows.

If we decided to use the bellows in compression we should have to turn the bellows unit round, and operate it in a similar method to a radiator thermostat.

In the meantime we have instructed our order office to order 8 complete bellows units to F.100773 from you. These units will require the special end pieces, but we have no objection to your method of securing them to the bellows.

We should be much obliged if you would give these bellows units your prompt attention.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
