-3- The engine is flexibly mounted and tended to give 'whip' torsionally to front of frame. The 'A' portion to which the engine is mounted at front, they say prevents completely this whip. They also say the X. member alone, without the 'A', made the front of the car more flexible - with flexible engine mounting - than previously. Will get more details later. Aero Screened Ignition. I saw a Lycoming - Radial Air Cooled - engine at the Motor Show and it had a very neat system of screened ignition. CASTING SMALL ALUM THIMBLE CARRYING BRAIDED H.T CABLE SPRING CLIP ATTACHED TO EYE The small alum. thimble - bakelite lined - is very neat and light and presses right against the cylinder casting eliminating that 'messy' method of attaching to plug. It is the smallest and neatest scheme I have seen. My sketch does not contain much detail as it is only from memory, and I only saw the job in passing. I will make a point of getting full details. ----- I spent an interesting morning yesterday with Dr. Edgar of the Entyl Gas Co. here in New York. He gave me some very useful information on the fuel question over here. He has arranged for me to go to Curtis-Wright tomorrow - and fixed up for me to see the people concerned with both the water cooled and air cooled jobs. | ||
