Forward End of the Rear Spring Bracket.

On Rippon's Demonstration Car which we are just dealing with there was a bad knock at the rear of the car about which the driver complained. This was very noticeable and on investigation the Repair Dept. found that all the bolts holding the rear spring bracket to the frame had fallen out, and that nothing was securing this bracket to the frame.

We are the more concerned because the Repair Dept. say that they have previously found a similar bracket where all these nuts were loose. We appreciate that the design at this point is similar to that of the 20/25, and that locking washers have proved satisfactory on these cars, but we have to face the fact that the Bentley is being driven in a different manner and also is more highly stressed and therefore may required different treatment.

We recommend that these nuts should be positively locked in some manner.
