MISS LUCY LOGAN. ------------------------- Reference HmS/1/4.4.33. We note the contents of your memo but think that in this case it is not quite understood that the exhaust swan neck on Miss Logan's car at present terminates some 7" forward of the rear cross member and is therefore definitely well inside the rear cowling of the body. We merely propose to extend the swan neck so that the snout is flush with the rear cross member, which is now standard on new cars and this should definitely be better than the existing swan neck from the point of view of fumes getting into the body. The tests to which you refer were confined to the exhaust pipes extended beyond the rear cross member. We have on many occasions fitted similar swan necks to that now proposed for Miss Logan's car, with quite satisfactory results. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} | ||
