To. By & Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}....From RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}/GTH.{G. T. Houlistan} Index ROCKER COVER THUMB NUT - WRAITH 1260 The above thumb nuts, E.60743, are at present produced from BZ/S bar at a factory cost of 1.585 shillings each or 4.755 shillings per chassis. It is suggested that in future these be bought out as hot brass pressings, upset from ½" bar and finished in the Works by knurling, boring and tapping, and finally dull nickel deposited. It has been confirmed that this method provides a saving of 2/9d per chassis, and involves a Die and Tool cost of £6. 0. 0d. which will be recovered after producing 44 chassis. The introduction of these can be effected, without scrap, at the 120th Wraith chassis in "B" series. A set of thumb nuts, produced in brass and nickel deposited were tightened down with a spanner 200 times to ascertain whether the plating would withstand service conditions, the results being entirely satisfactory.
