Dear Leslie,

Thank you for your letter. As I pointed out to you on the telephone, the position now is that we have the whole of the Austin and the whole of the Talbot factory at our disposal and the result is that our difficulty is not to get the work done on normal machines, but to balance these everyday machines with specialised equipment which is necessary for some of our more difficult pieces.

Under the circumstances, I am afraid there is little chance of our being able to offer you any such contract work. I am sorry, but that is the position.

As you may imagine we are "flat out" here trying to make as many engines as possible.

I am glad to hear that you and the family are well.
