BUFFER CLEARANCE. X8410 Replying to your HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 7/LG61024., the stiffer springs fitted in accordance with Mr. Royce's idea would automatically give you a great-er clearance, since there would be more positive camber in the normally loaded position. This was the reason for asking for a deeper buffer on N.scheme 1845. We think however since going into the matter further that it will be sufficient if we use the same buffer on both types of spring, and though the clearance will be more on the 20%, the maximum stress reached should be the same, since they are springs of the same rating, and be-ing stiffer this maximum stress will be reached less frequently.
