re. FRAMED INSTRUMENT PATCH.

With reference to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M18.6.30., we certainly agree that the charge of £2 for fitting a new glass in a framed instrument patch is excessive.

The whole job of removing the patch from the instrument board, fitting a new glass, and re-erecting the patch can be comfortably completed in two hours. Even if the coachbuilders have to cut out a new glass, we should still say the charge was excessive.

It is difficult to see why we should pay for glass broken by the coachbuilder. Our experience with patches is that they do not break unless maltreated. Every chassis goes through test with its own instrument patch fitted, if it will stand up to this it will not break at the coachbuilders unless badly treated.
