-3- Raised exhaust valve guide bosses. Short duration inlet camshaft. After running in tests to comprise. (a) Power curves with normal 1/2 tooth late and 1/2 tooth early timing to find best position with this shaft EB 4512. (b) Check whether camshaft and altered overlap has any effect on the idling. (c) Repeat crankshaft oscillation tests as (f) for B.80 No 2 Unit. in cooperation with Spponer for comparison of 2.75 diameter against 2.5 crank. (g) Repeat ignition and exhaust valve temperature tests as (c,d,e,) for B.80 No.2 Unit. which will give a comparative value for raised exhaust valve guide bosses. B.V. No. 1 Unit. Further to the previous instructions on this unit now fitted with original Ex 32752 camshaft and .002 oversize. cylinder block check. (1) Power curves at previous best timing. (2) Oil consumption for 1 hr. at 4000 RPM. (3) Figure of merit for idling and valve noise. Tune up engine curing all leaks etc., and pass off for fitting into chassis, giving list of complaints etc., to be corrected when in shop. Wraith III No. 9. Test in accordance with previous programme. Wraith III No. 4 Unit. Unit re-assembled for test bed development work. (1) Try out duplex induction system as requested for by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} (2) Crankshaft oscillation tests to be carried out in cooperation with Spooner these including trial of solid pinions etc., (3) Heat flow to oil under the following conditions :- (a) Standard flat pistons and cylinder head giving a comparison ratio of 6.0 : 1 (b) With 4.70 raised crown pistons and standard head giving a compression ratio of 8.0:1. Further tests dependent upon the results obtained. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
