Engine misfiring issue caused by a bad low tension terminal connection.

| ORIGINAL. 2 Hotel de l'Ouest Laval May 15.1922 H.S. from H.Y. 7.G.II X4086 V429 We arrived in London on Thursday (from Derby) night last. We had one involuntary stop on the road. The engine had a fit of misfiring very much like one gets if petrol feed is poor but we found that it was due to a bad connection at the low tension terminal on the distributo. The spring terminal was incorrectly fitted the hook terminal on the wire being thinner than the length of the boss on the sliding bush on the spring terminal. It is worthwhile considering whether a different type of terminal would not be more reliable as a little dirt on the contact faces will easily cause a poor connection due to the spring pressure being so light. Low tension contacts used to be firmly made. On Friday we got our papers from the R.A.C. after some delay due to the bankers guarantee not being forthcoming from Derby, and started off for Folkestone. | ||
