S/W Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x206 C8/C19.6.34 Re BENTLEY BRAKES. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW16.6.34. ----- We are pleased to note that you have a brake lining which you consider is better in respect of the fault complained of, namely inefficiency after washing, than the standard lining, the drawback being, however, that it does not wear so well as the standard material fitted to the Bentley brakes. We note that you propose fitting this to a number of Trials cars so that you may get some experience of it and that you are sending half-a-dozen sets to Cricklewood for them to fit to some of the Trials cars. This material should be sent to Kingsbury and not to Cricklewood. In the meantime we have not heard definitely from Sir Malcolm Campbell, but we have from Miss M.Smith, who is anxious to have the material on the brakes of her car changed at once. Would you recommend having this fitted, therefore, or the material fitted to Paton's car? It looks as if we shall have to deal with this particular case straight away, and the material should be sent to Reid in Glasgow. Miss M.Smith had similar trouble on her Alvis, and she says her local people changed the brake linings for Halo linings. | ||
