HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}2/VS.{J. Vickers}12.7.38. BENTLEY 50 REAR AXLE. [Handwritten initials 'AH' crossed out] Further to our HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}2/VS.{J. Vickers}11.7.38., we give below two further complaints which should receive attention. 1. It is impossible to assemble the 8/37 ratio gears in the above axle owing to the bevel pinion wheel fouling the pinion housing by approximately .100. 2. We suggest that the limits on the spigot diameter of the left hand end plate GB.3687 and on the location diameter of the centre casing be decreased, since it would appear that more accurate location at this point is required. With the present tolerances it is possible to have a clearance of .003. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} | ||
