COPY. NORTH & SONS LTD. 19th April 1928. CHK-DEW.3. ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/JTs/HP. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited. Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Sirs, EW6 Watford Magnetos 40/50 HP. In reply to your letter of March 15th we beg to say that we have carefully tested the three magnetos Nos. 106007, 106003, and 100084, referred to in your letter and in your order No.R.6490. With regard to 106007, we find that there is a certain amount of noise made by the contact breaker and think it would be better to fit the new type of cam ring. Magneto No.100084 regarding which your report states "will not start engine up when cold" has been tested in every possible way and found to be well within your specification. It sparks regularly over a 5.5 m/m three point spark gap at 40 R.P.M. advanced and at 135 R.P.M. when retarded the full 60°. Magneto No. 106003, there is some gear noise when the magneto is hot, and we are changing the gears. If you wish us to do so we will change the cam cages on the three magnetos but await your reply before putting this work in hand. Yours faithfully, (Sgd) R.B. North. ENCLOSURE Nº 93 "JUSTSO" | ||
