800. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.11/HP.25.4.39. UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL. I was very interested to try 2/B/50 this week-end, and to run it for about 200 miles on a week-end trip into the Eastern counties, at an average of about 38 to 40 m.p.h. The improvement in the suspension over the standard Bentley is simply enormous, and this is accomplished without spoiling the ride in the other direction. What I mean is that sensitive rear passengers are almost free from the unpleasant effects of nausea. The improvement in the steering also is very great, 2/B/50 being light and free from joggles, and with a very pleasing lock. The general structure feels rigid and steady. The increased body base has allowed considerable improvement in the comfort of the passengers, a greater distance between front and rear seats, ample leg room and absence of wells all being very noticeable, also the comfortable front seats, ample width at front and rear, and good head room. The luggage boot is of really ample capacity and lined with felt and rubber to avoid damaging the contents. Altogether, the general combination of chassis and coachwork makes 2/B/50 a most attractive car, and the performance for a car of 36¾ cwts on direct gear is well up to standard. The few faults that are apparent appear to be easily amenable to treatment. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
