41053 To: Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From AX. AX1/21.5.33. BENSPORT 1.B.S. The various shortcomings of this car have already been fully dealt with in the 10,000 miles report. I do not therefore propose to go over them again. After a delightful weekend with it I have nothing but praise for it. The stability and road holding are excellent. The steering and control of the car very good. I think the 3rd gear ratio is too low. The change speed lever knob is a great improvement. The present standard one I dislike intensely and the more one uses it the more irritating it becomes. It is essential on a car such as the Bensport where gear changing will be more frequent than with a standard production, that the operation of gear changing should be made as comfortable and easy as possible. In this connection I suggest more clearance should be obtained between the gear lever knob and the instrument board when in the forward position. I was very surprised to find that the increased power output has been obtained with such a marked absence of roughness or other disagreeable features from the engine. [Initialled Signature] | ||
