Y45524. 5.5.33. Chassis 2.B.IV. Tests Carried Out on Dynamometer, 1/3.5.33. (1) Axle Tests. (a) 1 Hour light running in top gear. (b) 2 Hours at full throttle in 3rd. gear at 1500 R.P.M. (stopping down every 10 mins. for cooling off axle and gearbox). (c) 2 Hours at full throttle in 2nd. gear at 1500 R.P.M. (stopping down every 10 mins. for cooling off). (d) 2 Hours at full throttle in 1st. gear at 1500 R.P.M. odd sized tyres (5.50 x 18" and 6 x 18") being fitted at rear during this latter test in order to make the differential gear do some work (stopping down every 10 mins for cooling off). The axle showed no visible or audible signs of deterioration during the test. (2) Power Curves. No air silencer or intake bends fitted. (a) Ignition and carburation adjusted for maximum power at each individual speed. Car petrol feed. (b) As (a) but with exhaust system and manifold completely removed. Gravity petrol feed. (c) Ignition fully advanced set at 13° B.T.D.C., ignition governor as received on test with engine. Gravity petrol feed. (d) Ignition fully advanced set at 17° B.T.D.C., ignition tower and governor complete off 19.G.IV. Gravity petrol feed. (e) As (a) but with gravity petrol feed.
