C O P Y. W/S - C. Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/WT17/KW11.11.32. Chassis No. 58-WJ. Major Rainshaw Rothwell. This Owner calledat the Works yesterday with his car, which he recently purchased second-hand, to again demonstrate to us his complaint of rumbling or vibration. We feel that to overcome this complaint it will be necessary to fit diamond engine mounting, but before recommending this definitely, we should like to see what effect removing the rear engine feet has. To enable us to do this we arranged with the owner to let us have the car on November 14th for a few days. We told the owner it was a standard job, and it would be a matter of investigation to see if it could be improved (we consider it standard for this type of engine mounting). During our conversation, Owner stated that if it was a standard job he considered it a much overrated car, and no use to him: he would have to dispose of it. We should like to know your views and what policy to adopt should we decide that diamond mounting will sufficiently improve the car to satisfy the owner. The cost would be approximately £55 to convert this type of car. Do you think we should tell the owner we can improve the car by altering the engine suspension at the above cost, or should we maintain our attitude that it is a standard job ? On the other hand, you might consider this Owner sufficiently influential for us to carry out this work f.o.c., or meet him in some way ? Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/WT. | ||
