To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X5600 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/MJ.5.3.31. Y7600 x5600 SIDE SPARE WHEEL CARRIERS. When we take off the rear engine feet in order to reduce engine vibrations, we find that on cars with side spare wheel carriers the wheels move about too much owing to the torsional flexibility of the side journals when unsupported by the engine. We wish to try a crude test tying spare wheel carriers to the dashboard by a piece of strip steel as shewn in the attached sketch. Will you please arrange to fit this up on 20-EX. Will you also please arrange to take the rear engine feet out of the dummy unit in the bump chassis, as we wish to test this chassis without this support.
