SPECIFICATION OF PRODUCTION INSPECTION & TEST.

ADDITIONAL NOTE.

Referring to (1)(a), and in particular to the inspection of the cutout contact surfaces for correct alignment, it is intended that there shall be a definite rubbing action between the points after making and before breaking. This can scarcely occur satisfactorily if the axis of the cylindrical surface of the moving contact point is level/or lower than that of the fixed contact point,(i.e. in position on the dash). It should therefore be arranged that the moving contact point is slightly higher, in which case it will be observed that a definite rubbing action will occur.

The point is that the definite rubbing action is definitely intended, but the possibility of the rubbing action when the points are in exact alignment is largely defeated by the flexibility of the top portion of the spring carrying the moving contact point.
