Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.
Dear Sirs,
For the attention of Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives.
We thank you for your letter of May 26th. We regret that the exact Octane Number of Safe-T-Esso is not known to us, but we have communicated with our friends in New York, asking for this information, and will pass it on to you in due course.
With regard to the price of this material, it appears at present to be somewhat high. Small experimental quantities shipped over in steel barrels, and delivered to you at Derby, would cost between 2/10d. and 3/-d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} per gallon.
When provision can be made for normal handling of this material the price might be reduced in all by 4d. or 6d. per gallon. This, of course, would be subject to it being handled in large quantities.
If you will communicate with us I will make arrangements to have the material despatched as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully,
ANGLO-AMERICAN OIL COMPANY, Ltd.
Manager.
Technical Department.
