We have tried the anti-rattle device on the synchromesh cam on Bentley 1. It is not more than a 50% cure on this car; in fact when we get the gearbox really hot we can produce rattles on 2nd speed which are almost as bad as they were previously. We are pulling the gearbox down again to make sure everything is O.K. but in the meantime we think you could with advantage see whether you can produce rattles on your car. Possibly it is the smooth clutch take-up which completes the cure. We had a good example of this on Fairey's car which rattled badly when it came in, but after the Repair Dept. had eased the splines and fitted a new driven member the rattle was almost non-existent.
