Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/EM4/L41013. -2- the steering has freed itself and therefore they consider that it is simply a question of lubrication of the bottom and top pivot bushes. This they state is exaggerated on many cars through the chauffeur lubricating the pivot by the top cap only. (A.{Mr Adams} On Fig.13 page 29 of Instruction Book) The bottom cap shown in Fig. 14 being frequently neglected. The matter was then referred to the Experimental Shop and Mr Haldenby reported 22/9/13 that the trouble appears to be due to the bottom bearing of the pivot pin being short of lubricant and sometimes being rusty. He made a recommendation that it might be worth while trying a bronze bush at this point instead of a steel one, as there would be less tendency to rust up if the surfaces were short of oil. We shall therefore be glad to know if Mr Royce considers this suggestion feasible, and if so, whether we should adopt same. p.
