40/50 BUMP CHASSIS SHOCK DAMPERS
--------------------------------

FRONT.

AFTER 60 HRS. RUNNING.

The loads checked up at 90/90 lb. as originally set.
The oil leaks were .350 and .450" below normal, the oil
having the usual "muddy" appearance.

MAIN BUSHES.

Made of BZ/PC. with a longitudinal groove at the top of
both the large and small diam. bushes, and a definite
diametral clearance of .001", these bushes were found to be
in excellent condition. There was no reasonable wear.

ROCKING SHAFTS - WITH INTEGRAL MAIN LEVERS.

The bearing surfaces were unmarked and the inter-lever
sections showed no signs of fidgeting, also the keys were
undamaged.

INTERMEDIATE LEVERS.

Both the rocking shaft bores, and the contact surfaces were OK.
The securing bolts (drilled type) were quite tight; the
elongation measured .050". One face of the N.S. lever was
highly polished, where it has evidently been rubbing on the
large diam. main bush - possibly due to cylinder bore to bush
alignment being incorrect.

PISTONS.

The bearing surfaces were in good condition, just showing
local high spots, and the wearing pads were only very slightly
grooved, a maximum depth of .001" being recorded.

The maximum diametral wear was .0005" also the expanding
discs were sound.

CYLINDERS.

Except for the local high spots corresponding to the pistons
these were in perfect condition.

VALVES ETC.

The valves, integral hats, and valve seats in the valve
